Yeah, it's real! After over 12 years, a real version of HL:E, from 18.09.2004!
(Do you remember, HIT released a fake version of HL:E on 01.April, years ago...)

Yeah, that would be very nice Thomas! I still have a lot of files I can upload.

That is supremely cool. Can anyone confirm if it works with the current version of Steam HL or does it need something like Xash?

On the subject of high profile mods that disappeared, does anyone remember what that mod set in the HL Universe in the jungle was called? It was the one that looked really really pro, but died when the team leader decided late in development to restart devlopment in Source. I think the only thing released from it was a WAD file, it would be neat to get a link to that for anyone wanting it as well as any surviving screens; if possible it would be interesting to contact dev team members to see what could be salvaged from it.

I haven't heard of that mod sounds interesting.

I'd love to get my hands on anything from They Hunger Lost Souls, I was hyped as shit for that mod, and some of the gameplay mechanics (like the watch that showed your health) looked cool.

I remember hearing a bunch of different things about why they stopped development, I'd be nice if any of the game was still stashed away on someone's hard drive waiting to be brought back from the dead.

You can get it to work by pasting all the half life 1 maps in to the enhanced maps folder and running the bat file attached to my post, somebody who actually knows what they're doing might've made something more efficient or something but eh

So far i haven't seen any physics or ragdolls
Ah?

Yeah as I mentioned in the Skype chat, we need some documentation to see what we actually have and how we can get it to work.

Besli, feel free to post/tell what you can.

I completely forgot how to Setup HL:E to get it work.
It worked on WON long time ago, but I don't know if it also will work on STEAM.
But after Imperial Wizard told us how to do, I remember that you have to copy all the HL1 maps and run the batch file first.
I also installed the ragdoll test in my version, but I don't know if it really worked. :sigh:

I tried playing without the ragdoll test installed and with, no ragdolls sadly I'm secretly hoping theres a console command you need to activate the physics
But hey, you can give barney a shotgun, 357 or mp5 using give weapon_x to drop it in front of him, the mp5 is broken tho, he plays the pistol animations and he fires it like a shotgun
Ah?

Sup Belsi,

Wow that's a old build.  HL:E was still being worked on my Matt up to at least 2010.  I don't quite remember when Phil quit.

Being friends with Matt (and having access to the SVN) I can tell you that HL:E was more of a tech demo than a alpha or beta.  Lots of the features implemented were in a very, very buggy state.  Still, to this day I think that HL:E was the only HL mod with physics.  :)
