Releases / [HL2] Some pretty awesome stuff.
« Last post by charlie on December 16, 2018, 09:00:28 PM »
link will be posted when mediafire is done uploading it...

edit: link is here:

i only packaged them into one folder. there's some pretty rad stuff here that i thought was worth sharing, and as someone on the discord said its one click away from being lost forever. please read the credits.txt if you want to find the original authors!

alright, let's get to it.

this is 2 gigabytes worth of brand new models and textures for half-life 2. it may not seem like much at first glance, but once you start comparing them with the vanilla assets you'll notice the difference. for example, take a look at the vanilla w_357:

notice how its just original half-life's w_357 but with a new texture. now take a peek at the model below. notice the difference? other great examples of this would be w_rocket_launcher and w_physcannon, but i don't want to fill this post with more images than it already has. there's also some other really rad stuff here, like the ar2's textures and w_ model, w_stunbaton, and the h.e.v. arms in particular. anyways, i hope you guys like this stuff as much as i do. if i got anything wrong in the credits.txt please tell me and i'll fix it as soon as i can. now here's some stuff to look at:
Requests / [GOLDSRC]M4A1 p_ and w_ models (+different animations and hands if possible)
« Last post by charlie on December 16, 2018, 02:53:35 PM »
i really like this ( model, but there's no p_ and w_ models for it. i would really appreciate it if someone could make them. also, i never really liked the animations on the model, so if someone could re-do them to make them look smoother or just port some other animations on to the model (i'm thinking this with bolt push and turn around reload like the default model's animations but a bit smoother) that'd be really great. as a final request for this model, the hands i would liked rigged on it would be sc 5.0 hands, redslug's ld hev hands, default gearbox opfor hands, and default gearbox barney hands. thanks!

edit: since this is a lot to ask for and i didn't really say this because i didn't feel the need to, but looking back on it i do need to say that if you only do one of these things i'd still be fine. of course you don't have to do any of them but if you decide to take on this request even doing just one thing will be great.
Releases / Re: QWrap - A brand new Quake Source Port.
« Last post by charlie on December 15, 2018, 06:20:28 PM »
gonna bump this based on the description of the latest release saying that its the final release of this. seems neat, also comes with source code and a new model viewer (but that's separate download.) some other good source ports for quake (2) are quakespasm for quake ( and q2pro for quake 2 (

yeah i know this isn't a quake forum, just thought it was pretty cool and worth bumping because half-life is kinda like the child of quake.
Releases / [GOLDSRC][HUD] M4A1 without M203
« Last post by charlie on December 15, 2018, 09:14:37 AM »
just a quick little edit to the m4a1's hud icon to remove the m203 grenade launcher. i made it for myself after seeing this ( and really liking it, and i thought it would be worth sharing in case anyone else wants it. its a little rough around the edges (ms paint really isn't ideal) but its usable. also includes a version with an edit to the sights, replacing them with a scope (taken from sc's mp5 hud icon, also without an m203.) anyways, i hope you guys like it  :)

p.s.: the included script is intended for sc 5.0, i didn't test it with vanilla half-life and i don't know if the crosshair will match up due to them being different sprites and all.

now the only thing we need is a p_ and w_ model for it...

update: edited the glowing sprites to look a lot better than they were.

Dropbox sucks, long live mediafire. It still has files I put up in 2010. :slow:
Discussion / Unforeseen Consequences: A Half-Life Documentary
« Last post by RavenGT on December 13, 2018, 04:48:12 PM »
Here's a little something to celebrate 20 years of Half-Life, a Noclip series documentary (Danny O'Dwyer, ex-GameSpot):

My memory is a little foggy but does the MP5 replacement at 29:02 look familiar?
Oh sweet! Yeah the rigging part was a huge pain in the ass for this actually, because of the way gearbox's arms are posed by default. I hacked the plane onto skyninja's hands because modifying AI's rig was a bit of a pain for m, much less fun than the modelling and UV unwrapping. Thanks for fixing these by the way.
I had to separate and readd the panels to the hands so it is properly rigged ( there's some funky panels that doesn't fully select when you select the panel as whole, probably due your editing for the Romka's elements but is tolerable ).

( Tested them on Source since I have several models just ready for compiling and was quickier for me to set up the new stuff rather than prepare it for GoldSrc ).

Does look decent on the movement and all, maybe it will look a bit weird the chrome texture but I think that's acceptable.
Personally for me I don't like these recolored arms, they are just bathed in orange tint.

If it were for me, I would stick with the classic arms since it fits better. I would make the hand panel clearer so it has the same "color temperature" than the rest of the arm, however.

Overall nice editing, can't wait seeing it released. I'm sending to you the fixed SMD ( I edited it in Blender so in any rare case it doesn't work for GoldSrc, just reimport and reexport it, or run that batch script which fixes this problem, it can be found at the Sven Co-op forums ).
They were definitely inspired by Renard's rig yes. I initially tried to fix his arms but they were pretty far gone, the hand packs were broken up, covered in smoothing errors, and there were chunks of overlapping geometry. I did use his recoloured sleeves though, which go pretty nicely with the handpack texture. I've gotta warn you, the vertex groups on the hands haven't been fully assigned, and I lost one of the verts on the glove part so I'm not sure how it's gonna look animated.

I used Romka's texture for the dial thingy, I forgot to include that in the credits.
