Title: Considering Retro Mod Tournament
Post by: Thomas on July 10, 2017, 01:25:36 PM
I'm considering trying to put together a Tournament where contestants would compete by playing a series of 10 Multiplayer Half-Life 1 Mods. We'd, of course, need a short list of mods (including specific versions) as well as interested parties. I think for maximum value, we would need at least 10 players. We could work out the other details later if there is enough motion behind this idea.

Mod Short List
1. The Wastes
2. The Specialists
3. Firearms 3.0
4. Day of Defeat Beta 3.1
5. Counter Strike Beta 7
6. Battlegrounds
7. Rocket Crowbar V1.9
8. Science and Industry
9.
10.

I'd be interested in joining as long as the tourney takes place at a decent time for US West. I know someone else that's also down for playing if it actually happens.

I'm down for this.

We should do Firearms 3.0 for sure.

Also The Wastes 1.4?

Some good mods are Jakin' Bacon: Source (http://www.moddb.com/mods/jaykin-bacon-source) and The Specialists (http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-specialists).

EDIT: Oh yeah, Firearms 3 and CS Beta 7.

Oh such a nice idea to get the nerds back in the yard, I wanna' join!

E/ Rocket Crowbar, please. (Version 1.9)

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Rocketcrowbar

Basically changes the functionality of all weapons in HL1. Hilariously changes the crowbar to shoot rockets. Played it years ago, affects multiplayer to a hilarious degree.

We may need a second mirror for the 1.9 download though. My computer can't download it for some reason.

Interested, though I'm not sure if I can actually join due to real life and time zones.

How about Ghost Ops? You know, that one mod everybody looked forward to 10 years ago but nobody ever actually played.

I'm down if the dates and times work out. My vote goes to Half-Life Rally (http://www.moddb.com/mods/hl-rally/downloads) (1.0 + 1.1 patch) and Half-Life Bumper Cars (http://www.moddb.com/mods/bumper-cars/downloads/half-life-bumper-cars-v20) though I might have a slight edge :)

My internet is kinda dodgey and I have no idea if I can even join in the right time, but I am interested if it can be done.

Might be spending the day playing old Half-Life mods to see which ones still have servers, we will work one out for this tournament, but having fun all the same! Please spread the word.

I'd be interested in maybe doing Natural Selection, Action Half-Life, and Pirate, Vikings, and Knights.
