Canada: The decent version of the US.

Quote from: Stephen Harper
Human rights commissions, as they are evolving, are an attack on our fundamental freedoms and the basic existence of a democratic society... It is in fact totalitarianism. I find this is very scary stuff.

I'm so proud of my Prime Minister.

"You think being gay is a choice? Then choose it: Suck my dick. Show me how it's done. You choose it - suck my dick - right now, and I'll videotape it, and then we'll put the proof that being gay is a choice on the internet for the whole world to see. Deal?"

As least you can count on him not to act on his words. I can't think of a place I'd rather live, regardless of the political flavour of the year.

I think sweden is in a similar political mind, (and geographical climate) but we got the racist party into parliament this year. The fuckers got tons of sob votes by saying "we're not really racists what are you talking about? everybody is so mean!" and yet all the people speaking for them and many members go on about how muslims are vile, how dark skinned people are less intelligent, well the basic racist agenda.

It amde me so god damn angry seeing them on the television... I didn't know what to do as I didn't get a proper rage attack in many many years, I felt like punshing something.

A friend tipped me about Happy Wheels, and I played, and I laughed so hard.

Europe and Canada have Socialistic economies.
The US has been damn near that lately.

The government shouldn't be doing as much as it is, leave more options to the states rather than having everything being Federal. The current American government is a fucking joke.
Why should the government decide what kinds of cars we can buy, why should they tax cigarettes or unhealthy foods; if we want to be "fat Americans," so be it. It should be our freedom wothout any hindrances whatsoever.

Separation of church and state does NOT mean you can't talk about God in public schools. Sheepish idiots, it only means there can't be a government sponsored religion!
Spineless.
Even looking into details on climate change, groups have made graphs and the like leaving out crucial pieces of information, and of course "climate change" commitees are all over that. Fucking beauracracy, if it weren't for their lies they wouldn't exist and have shittons of money.
These same kinds of people are the ones that slashed the tires of Republicans taking people to go and vote.
These same people registered fake votere such as Mickey Mouse and Rudolph, all for the sake of their candidate.
These same people that say it's ok to burn the American flag try to ban the "Burn the Qur'an day"...
Yes, let's pull out of Iraq, and let al-qaeda roam free.
No, I don't think Obama is an idiot; in fact, he knows exactly what he's doing. He's following a plan set by two Communist professors at Harvard.
Oh, but they're not so bad; they raised minimum wage!
They must know so mucb about economics.
Small businesses generate the most jobs. If small businesses either have to raise their proces or have fewer employees. Lose-lose situation.

Don't even try to prove me otherwise.
I'm just getting started, I could continually prove why the ones that run our government, also the same kinds of people that control Canada and most of Europe, are all for more government control.

And, sadly, all of you are so far on the left that you'll scoff or try to overwhelm me with why you love your gov't so much.

I would say /rant, but I'm sensing I won't need that for a while.

Fill me in there too, or northern europe whatever. Well, I guess some places in eastern europe are pretty rad too. But you know, as long as it is a fairly rich, and fair country without tremendous amounts of patriots, then that's about as good as I could have it i guess.

Although my evil goverment has probably tricked me into believing my life is okay. Best make a tinfoil hat...

Democracy sucks. The way politicians barter for power with the rabble, and the rabble beg and plead with politicians disgusts me. If it were any decision of mine, I'd rather be led by another Napoleon or Frederick the Great than a public-approved Stephen Harper.

I'd say democracy is our best bet currently, simply because all things leaning towards despotism just are not sustainable.

But it's probably stupid to think nothing better will come along, I just don't know what. In the future I'm pretty sure people will sit around having a good time thinking back on the dark days where democracy was the best we had.

I forget who said this and how it was worded, but he says American democracy fails because people are sheep and very few know what's really going on.

It sounded cooler the way he said it.

Stupid people armed with guns are not a problem at all. The problem is their convictions, the slave morality which rose with Christianity that teaches the mediocre are worth more than the exceptions. Even capable rulers are deceived by slave morality; and it's Christian ethics that founded the liberalism and socialism which sparked revolutions in Europe and America. Now, after millennia of vulgarization, we choose our leaders with a ballot! If you believe popular music is terrible, imagine popular leaders.

Deka if you're talking about Greece in general that's a bad decision; prior to the polypennesian war, they were anything but united, and weren't exactly best friends after. By they I mean the city-states.
Athens had a "pure" democracy, even more so than it has been in modern times.
Socrates' execution has puzzled people for centuries, they seemed to be trying to find someone to blame for all their misfortune, making a connection. That would be like killing Obama's dentist. People never took Socrates seriously until the end.
Sarta was the only city-state that killed its babies if they were deformed, or weren't going to survive, actually they weren't coldly murdered but left on a mountain for nature to take care of.

You know I'm not going to go trough the whole "ellected by masses ence being popular" stuff, and as for my personnal point of view I always tough morality was for people who weren't smart enough to take decision, kinda like religion.

About the conviction stuff, a conviction doesn't exist if you don't have people who belive in it, since stupid people tend to believe whatever they are told and doesn't scare them, I'll still remain convice that they are the problem (see what I did there)

Deka if you're talking about Greece in general that's a bad decision; prior to the polypennesian war, they were anything but united, and weren't exactly best friends after. By they I mean the city-states.

What is that ?

Athens had a "pure" democracy, even more so than it has been in modern times.

Doesn't make any sense democracy just mean the people choose their leader, end of the line, it's true for all modern civilizations as it was back then, only the definition of people isn't the same

Socrates' execution has puzzled people for centuries, they seemed to be trying to find someone to blame for all their misfortune, making a connection. That would be like killing Obama's dentist. People never took Socrates seriously until the end.

Nope Socrates' death only puzzled idiots for century, it's quite simple Socrates didn't believe in gods and tried to sprade the word around, usal sutff append the idiots didn't like it and since it was way easier to get somebody killed they did, turns out the athenians loved Socrates and erected a statue in his honor after learning from it's death

Sarta was the only city-state that killed its babies if they were deformed, or weren't going to survive, actually they weren't coldly murdered but left on a mountain for nature to take care of.

Athens had just been in a rough stage with alcabiates (sp?), a leader of theirs who had everything; looks, brains, and charm. Some people destroyed some statues of gods amd vandalized temples. A rumor began that Alcabiates was involved. At that time he needed an excuse to get away. He convinced the Assembly (it's like Congress except every male landowner showed up) that an island not so for from Athens posed a threat to them. Alcabiates, being the great military general he was, would lead the Athenian fleet. He and the Athenian navy were on their way to this island, and he got word that he had to return to Athens to go on trial for his supposed acts. At that time, Athens and Sparta weren't on very friendly terms over an issue I cannot recall...but Alcabiates, instead of going to Athens, betrays them and goes to Sparta. The Spartans don't quite understand why he's there; he quickly becomes close to the king. If you thought things would be getting better, they weren't; Alcabiates sleeps with the Spartan king's wife and impregnates her. Not long before, Sparta was advancing to lay siege to Athens. Athens suffered a terrible loss on the island without their general, btw. So they were bscly fucked when Alcabiates sails around Sparta to Persia to get on good terms with them, etc. They also lay siege to Athens. After it's pretty much rebuilt Alcabiates is dead, and Athens starts to wonder where their bad luck came from. Someone prior to Alcabiates (I forget who) and himself had both been students of Socrates. Socrates' method taught people to question everything around them. He was an atheist and Athens didn't really care. Through most of his adult life he was a teacher, rarely was he taken seriously. Now that shit's hit the fan, Athens wants someone to blame their misfortune on, and they choose Socrates.

Um, yeah. I probably switched some stuff and the like, but I got the gist of it.
