I'm starting the Half-Life: Invasion mini redux, don't consider me too much as a leader but more the guy who started this topic  :cop:
I don't know what to write so I'll make a list

rpg - a modified version of the half-life 1 rpg maybe? a new model is being worked on

HEV suit
since Invasion takes place in an alternative universe were Gordon refuses Gman's offer, maybe a HEV suit mix between the half-life 1 and half-life 2 HEV suit with a work in progress kind of look, It can be blue old HEV suit from half life beta

Grunts - Romka's source hgrunts on CS:DS animations, I have some started from an old pack I never finished that we could use plus new anims

new voices - anyone wont to dub over the French voices? I could try maybe for Barney but I might sound too young/ the only mic I have is a rockband mic

any more suggestions?

That would be awesome Thomas, the stuff you made back there was really nice

I would suggest replacing the beretta by something with more punch, if I recall properly the 92 in this mod was as powerful as the magnum, so maybe a 1911 would fit better anything chambered in .45 would make more sense

Also yes dubbed voice in English sounds wonderful, plus you can still keep the french voices, using the Invasion_french folder

Edit 2: Cheat codes in this mod are protected you need to use -dev then type in testmode in the console, if you save in test mod you need to deactivate it before you reload by typing testmod again in the console before loading

thanks Thomas that would be vary helpful and now that I think about it a colt would make more sense, berettas are only 9mm if I'm correct


PS: my little brother has a friend over and they are playing counter strike so I can't attempt to try some recordings, but later when it gets quiet I'll give it a shot
don't expect anything amazing  :suicide:

edit: working on a new Barney model or to be more correct a fixed up Barney model, does anyone have a shirt texture that matches Werewolfs SD  Barney Textures? if not I can always (try to) make a new one

edit2: that is what I was thinking about for the sniper rifle, I just could never find a model for it

edit3: ok so I tried to vioce act.... :barf: I'll stick with 2d/3d modding

I sized them to the original boots they are actually a little smaller, I think it's just the angle that makes them look big

I made them a little smaller, the boots on the original model were bigger then the ones on other Barneys
would post a pic but I don't wont to spam this page with to many large pics about small things

what colour/shade should I make his tie? just black or something else like red and blue striped like the scientists

Thanks for linking that reden, I knew I uploaded the dev files somewhere, how did you know where to find them? Also welcome to the forums, where do you come from?

Edit: Has the Arnold Mk2 tank mine in it too. That was a fun time. I think there is still some stuff I didn't upload on my external at home by the looks of it, but hopefully there is some salvageable stuff in there.

I could volunteer for the voice of a scientist or something, just for fun if you want!

sounds good upload a few voice samples, if you need the subtitles from the game they are in texts_gb.txt in the invasion folder

edit: if you would like to do voices and don't have invasion installed I uploaded the subtitles

I started the Hgrunts and am almost finished the scientists but I need a little help, should I use Water Phoenix's scientists face textures or A.I.'s SD scientists
also anyone know of a good colt handgun model? preferably a 1911 model
and what version of the glock should I use? I was thinking 18 or 18c

That looks pretty nice Norman, I like what you did with the chest plate, regarding the scientists don't use WP face textures, the body's textures are fine but the faces are just crap or you can mix both AI's and WP's textures I guess

Nothing come outs of my head right now, Kimono's 1911 is good choice it's pretty awesome, but only on a good set of anims
Seek Alex or DiamonD, both are active members and know good models

thanks Thomas, I'm still waiting for authorisation so I'll post the link when ready

anyone know how to fix the smoothing bug with additive textures? I know you can just make the texture last on the list and that's works, but I can't do that with head groups

nothing fancy just something quick for now, will make it look better when I have more to post

second thing extra animations for Barney, HGrunt, and Scientist are done, I uploaded the ones for the Scientists if anyone needs them
now about the HGrunts....

as some of you have seen I've been having problems with additive textures, well after Thomas gave some advice over skype I was playing around with them, I eventually gave up no matter what I tried I could not fix the smoothing bug, so I made them just plane chrome, after 5 hours of babysitting I had a creative explosion and came up with a fix, but all the grunts will have the same face and the missing head group will have to be something cheesy like the top of his head missing

so here is what my idea is, the Hgrunts in Invasion have a body group for the backpack, they have a random chance ( at lease I think its random )
of having 3 kinds of bags, what I was thinking is having all the heads plane with only helmets, hats, beret, est. and make the backpack body group have the gas mask, goggles, and maybe a pare of glasses so all the heads have ( at leace I think its random ) a random chance of getting a gas mask, goggles, and a pare of glasses, to help explain I make an example .qc

$bodygroup "heads"  the following are the heads they will only have helmets/ hats no gas mask, goggles est.

studio "not_head"   this head will have to be a little cheesy with only the top of the head missing/ shot off

for every head they have a chance of having one of the pack bodygroups, for example the shotgunhead model will just be a ski mask with pack1 he will have a gas mask and with pack2 he will have goggles

and for the third thing I'm going to be hanging out with some friends at there cottage so I'll be gone for the weekend, try not to die when I'm gone :joebiden:

When in doubt upload the mdl files so we can all take a look. Even if it doesn't make it into the final product it's nice to provide alternatives. That and the more copies of a model floating about the less likely they will get lost. Besli and others will speak to that.

Ps: Let me know Simon and others if you would like a sub forum for private dev talks. Although keeping it open source like this seems to be working very well so far. Excellent work on all projects!

Also you sure about that headshot head model Norman ? It looks a bit out of place, there used to be a head model with just the lower jaw and the tongue covered in blood

You can look up Revision Sawfly's as a reference for glasses as that's what is issued. They hav the contract for protective eyewear for Canada and the US.

May i suggest using a Cheytac M200 Intervention because M200 uses the same design as PGM Hecate  but with more modern receiver.
Or maybe using an AW50 'cause they looks the same.

sorry for the long wait, mini family crisis, every thing is somewhat good now so we can get back on track!
I tryed to work every chance I got and came on here to read your guy's suggestions, and because you guys waited so patiently have some big pics that are 97.3% less RED!

HGrunts - New heads ( finalish )

also have black skin colour textures too just need to add them to the skin groups

RPG Grunt - Body

things that I have no idea what to do with/ need some who is willing to work on them

the tank - we have the tank model from the old Invasion redux mod just needs a mounted gun and some textures, I uploaded the source files if anyone wants to take on the task
the v_supergun.mdl needs a new model with some anims
the v_rpg.mdl needs a new model with some anims
the v_irgun.mdl needs something to replace it
need someone to work on sprites when needed needs to somewhat follow half life 1 style

I also need to know what half life NPCs are in Invasion it's been so long since I've played it, might need to do a quick play through

Why don't you use SvenCoop anims for the rpg ? That should save you of a couple of anims to redo
EDIT : Maybe give CZ:DS anims a shoot too, the skeletons are way more proportionate than the ones in HL

The Ar Pee Gee is coded for those three different ammo types, I remember when we went to tackle that thing in 2008.

WOW, that gun would fit perfectly! You can try to add some ammo pouches, but I think it is good as it is.
For the second head you can use the HGrunt skimask head, without the goggles.
(Or Romka's second head, because this one has no ear.)

Yeah that could be a good idea. Make the pouches on the vest flat and remove them on the texture.
And add some extra puches than. (Put back Romka's ammo pouch on the side of the leg?)

Animations look good so far, though the stances/poses are a bit awkward and stiff.

wow it got really quiet around here

no pics to post, just some updates on what I'm working on

I started working on some idea/ usable weapons for the 9mmar, 9mm handgun, beretta, and the fsniper they are just some idea for replacements and are NOT final ( will upload soon )

also the sniper, hgrunt, and rpg grunt are done for the most part ( rpg grunt needs new rpg model and anims to go with it )
both the sniper and hgrunt have new low poly weapon models ( made by me ) to match the view models
barney also has a low poly weapon model that matches the view model

that's all for now, we are still looking for any help, modellers, animators, texture artists, and voice actors are welcomed just PM me or Simon or post here your suggestions.

unforchantly I put the sniper on hold, we need a new model with anims for the view model and until then I cant really make new anim for the sniper with out a finale weapon model..... but I can make some new anims for your mod if ya like.

Happy everyone!

In celebration of Ihavenoideawhat I decided to upload some of the model I'v worked on so far.

this pack comes with:

Barney - new shirt texture to mach Werewolf's, fix cuffs of his shirt, pulled down pant legs and added Romka's source hgrunt boots, fix up the uv on most of the model, modified the original vest model it now uses one texture for the fabricy part of the vest, modified the plates on the vest and the texture, re uved/ fixed up his face it's now one full face texture so no more line on the right side of his face, added new invasion anims.

HGrunt - Romka's source hgrunts, the only thing that's pretty much 100% done, Op4 Redux-Redux Hands with modified HOE:NE gloves, added some new misc stuff on his belt ( canteen, grenades, hand gun holster ( needs handgun ) ) , black skin, dismemberment fully works, new head light made by me ( it sucks I know ), added new invasion anims.

RPG Grunt - same as Hgrunt just different heads, long sleeves and a container for the rockets on his back.

Sniper - Romka's massn with flat vest, camouflage, and some bags on his belt, dismemberment fully works.

scientist - just the new missing anims for invasion nothing else.

and finally some random weapon hacks/things I did, probably not going to be used but I uploaded them so you guys can check them out.

Well its been 3 years some time later, time for some updates

Romka's Grunts for the most part ported well over to gold-source, except for the pants and sleeves.... so I redid them.

Not the most amazing thing in the world but they now look less muddy in game.

Sniper is now final, the vest texture was made by me and the camo is based on the original Invasion sniper camo, the hats are done also added some face paint for shits and giggles.

Gonna try rigging the grunts and sniper to CZ:DS anims and see how that works out.
Also if any one can get into contact with the Blue Shift : Reassignment team or has/ know were to get their RPG model give me a shout, I may be able to use if for Invasion Redux.

I think what I'm gonna do is release it in parts with the npcs being first then the weapons and items and then misc stuff like new hud sprites and (hopefully) new voices

Also I kinda wish BSR Didn't fade away and die for no reason, It would have made Blue Shift better than the original disappointment...

Some times life can unexpectedly get in the way, and you end up losing motivation to Finish things, but on the topic of Blue Shift I liked it, I think the main problem people have with it is its just a half life map pack unlike OP4 witch added new weapons and enemies.

Also if you're gonna try and rig the Grunts and Sniper to CZ:DS anims could you add them as an alternative model.

That was my original idea, to have them as an alt because not everyone likes Gearbox's anims.

well shit...

Look like we're in a bit of a pickle here, up till now I've only really worked on models and only ever tried them in game every so ofter and since I had a fare bit done ( a lot more then I show here ) I thought it would be a good idea to finish what I had, pack it up and upload it, before i did that I went to test it in game, unfortunately I seem to behaving some problems with the game ( probably to do with the Linux update? ) the problems that I'm having are:

broken lighting - everything is full bright, this is fallowed by a crash after a level change. ( only some levels )
error - cache wad indexed before load decals.wad: 4633 ( only some levels )
levels not loading at all.
random crashing.

I not sure what to do now, my guess is the only solution is to recode the game from scratch. ( and before you ask yes I tried to get the source code, no luck )
I'm going to continue to work on this mostly because a lot of the stuff in this pack can be useful for other packs, and I enjoy doing so.

If you guys have any solutions I'd be glad to hear them.

Redux is kinda dead at this point, what ever is left is just in that one file that is in the HIT Model Depot files.
Also, that sniper looks nothing like the original.

Pretty sure the original sniper was a CTIntervention sniper mirrored.
Something like this should be sufficient.

A simple read would easily tell you that it is indeed dead, no need to double post.
You can find however find the works being used in Invasion Remod.
