The pretentious hipster thread of art.
« on: December 17, 2011, 03:48:40 PM »
Post your drawings, music, photographs, architecture designs etc here.
Why not post in Trilkin's "poor attempt at art" thread you ask? Because shut up.

Gogogo, start posting your emo poetry  :sagan:

First one is for school, rest is from my sketchbook from my trip to Venice.
Ah?

If I could only find my phone cable/get the scanner to work. I have some paintings I made back in my artschool days and before.

More shit, not scanned because I don't have an A3 scanner.
I hate oil paint. Did these shitty paintings in earlier this year, I'm more of an pencil, crayons and watercolor guy :v:

One of my favorite villains from one of my favorite franchises.

This shady chap is Khrone, leader of the Elite/Enhanced Face Dancers from the 2-part grand finale of Dune, Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune.

Oh, yeah and for the whining purists out there, let me just get this out of the way.
I do not care what you think about the new Dune novels. I enjoy them as much as the originals and nothing you say will budge me. You can't humiliate or shame me out of my opinion.

Dune purists are as bad as Trekkies and Star Wars anti-prequel whiners if not worse.

I am the worst purist, all areas. Luckily I don't know anything about Dune apart from the first computer game and the film.
Nah, not really, it's more like, I kinda get the irritation that purists may feel towards others when they explain old unexplained things or bend the rules of the previous ideas, but I wouldn't get mad over such a thing at all.

No, no, I understand where they're coming from.

My real gripe is they whine about inconsistencies in the new novels in comparison to the classic books. The problem is there are more than a few inconsistencies in the classic novels as well and the purists neglect to give things a look without their rose-tinted shades.

Oh, and by the way, I was really referring to the real hardliners, the ones who demand absolute consistency. Any deviation is an affront to them.
(In which case you're out of luck as they hate the Lynch movie almost as much as the novels and probably the Westwood games, too since they were partially based on the Lynch movie).

---

Another favorite character of mine.

Scytale. He was originally a Face Dancer in Dune: Messiah, was resurrected and later became a Masheikh (High Master) and eventually the Abdl and Mahai (that is, the grand patriarch of his society).

Not bad Toadie!

If I can just give some feedback:
Top guy has too short legs relative to his bodysize
Guy #2 either has a big head or his body is too small
3rd image is fine except for the mouth, I feel that such a pose requires a passive / disintersted expression

Bottom 2 images are really good, though the position of the womans left eye bothers me. Aside from that those drawings are really good!
