[Deadmod] Nightwatch

In light of the recent declassifications, it would be cool if we could get something rolling with this mod. For those who don't remember, Nightwatch was an ambitious mod set in the HL Universe in another research facility(?) http://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-nightwatch

It had this WAD file released http://www.moddb.com/games/half-life/addons/nightwatch-texture-pack and a RAD file http://www.button-masher.net/download/textures/nw_rad.rar which as far as I know was the only thing made publically available.

Quite a lot of people seemed to work on the mod, as far as I know the team lead was Andrew Weldon who made a post about maybe posting up RMFs some years back https://blog.button-masher.net/2010/07/13/nightwatch-textures-released/ but hasn't got around to it.

Other people who worked on it were Adam Foster ("Minerva"), Jan Huygen (http://users.telenet.be/gus/#work), Magnar Jensen (Mission Improbable, http://www.magnarj.net/).

It would be neat if anyone with enough time on their hands could contact them and pursuade them to make more releases. Sadly I don't have time to really look up everyone involved with that project.

What a bloody shame something this good looking was lost. To be honest, I don't even remember what Escape Velocity was supposed to be about, or who the protagonist was. Quite an interesting content too. Seems rather strange there was just a texture pack released as the only thing left of Nightwatch. Or were the maps/models from these two mods actually released and I somehow missed it?

No I don't think the Maps or Models were ever Released, which is Quite a Shame because they looked really Good.

Oh, yes. I remember this mod. Specifically, I remember the butthurt way in which the project leader signed off after things crashed and burned.

With some Wayback Machine Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic, I found (to my dismay) that my memory of it was pretty spot on. I'll point out the one section that bothered me, highlighted in red for great justice.

I understand he was upset, but still, it sounds a bit petty to me.

Anyhow, if the guy still holds that position, you shouldn't hold your breath about him releasing the rest of the content.

Anyone who thinks that this is the perfect opportunity to ask for source content with the explanation "since you're not going to use it anyway" will get exactly the response they deserve. I know that this does not apply to the overwhelming majority of the community, but I also know that there are a small number of individuals of sufficiently poor taste who would otherwise do exactly that, and wanted to spare the team of this for the moment.

We could not have come as far as we have without the continued support from the community, and despite the difficulties we have encountered along the way, it has been a pleasure working on Nightwatch as long as we have. Thank you.

Been kept busy lately with my new job, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things here. Well, swing with whoever hasn't dropped off the edge of the world, anyway.
