[WIP] Sven COOP "They Hunger: Tactical"

OK I'm working on a mini-pack for Sven COOP They Hunger.  The aim of it is to remove the assy 1940s crap and replace that with a more modern militaristic look.  Why?  Because why not :P

Anyway stuff done so far:
Replaced all player models with custom Tactical Black Ops.
New hand model
New WAD textures
New Barney "Mercenary" model (with skingroups)
New Otis "Satanic Mercenary" model

To do:
Rig the new hand model to good new view models
Possibly throw in some new zombies if theres time to do so, + any other NPCs

Diamond has helped out with hand rigging, but he's a little busy ATM.  If someone else could help out with hand rigging that would be great, since it isn't exactly my own forte.

Yea, someone is finaly using my barney in svencoop ! :science:

Look nice for now, the bonnie hat look kinda strange on the barney, but the new player models are really nice.
Not sure if some modern stuff will fit in They Hunger though

Heh, yeah it's your "Frank" model which was posted on HIT ages ago.  I edited the skin a bit, and re-UVed the head, but it was a good base to go on =D

I added the boonie because he looked a bit too plain without it.

TBH the point of this pack is that it serves as an anachronism =P

So it is!  I simply took a model hacked together by Aydin, and pasted on my own arms.
If you don't want me using it, I can get another one... it is a very awesome model though ;)

Hehe!  Otis is still fat, but he needs some headgear too.  Boonie again?

Looks like I need to edit the lava texture still, it looks pretty bad from a distance (but not as bad as it looked before).  Also I should point out the shotgun at the top of the page is a placeholder, as are the arms on it (originally the arms were OP4 recoloured)

I'm thinking of reviving this project as a standalone doowhackey.  What do I mean by that?  Well, They Hunger could be run as a standalone game in it's own right.

What I'm thinking of doing is a model / code / engine update.  It would be a pretty simple affair which re-uses a lot of existing models, or hacked models, nothing too fancy.  Maps will be default, though hopefully with an engine update they should look much better.
The tacticool theme will stay, to really rage nerds :D

Having done some reverse engineering I've been able to figure out a lot of the default TH entities (and how they work), which I'll list here for the sake of posterity:
monster_th_babykelly - Vort clone.
monster_th_cyberfranklin - Agrunt clone.
monster_th_boss - ???
monster_barney - needs changing to be unfriendly.
monster_th_zombiebull - clone of the zombie code
einar_hand - clone of the headcrab code
monster_th_chicken - clone of the headcrab code
monster_houndeye
monster_human_grunt
monster_zgrunt - HGrunt clone
monster_scientist - now features 4 skingroup choices, in addition to submodels.
einar_civ - clone of the scientist code.  Also has 4 skingroups.
monster_zombie - has 10 submodels.
monster_zombie2 - clone of monster_zombie
monster_zombie3 - clone of monster_zombie
monster_lpzombie - clone of monster_zombie
monster_nursezombie - clone of monster_zombie
monster_megasquid - bullsquid clone.
monster_pilot - friendly barney clone.

Weapon Entities

weapon_th_medkit - item used for self-healing.  Clone of weapon_crowbar.  Rather than damaging world items, it increases player health.
weapon_einar1 ?  need to find what this is.

I plan on altering some NPCs, eg the HGrunt will become Spetsnaz with Skorpion SMGs / PKM MGs; Barneys will wield an M14; friendly Barneys will have Tec9 SMGs; the different zombie models will have different walk speeds & attacks.

Weapons will get some pimp alterations too, for instance the 357 will become a G3 battle rifle; the 9mmAR will be coded as a proper Colt Commando.

If anyone might be interested in helping with model hacking (be it NPC or weapon) please get in touch, and I can let you know what needs doing!
I may need a coder... or not.  I'm talking to some people ATM, if I need a coder I'll ask around ^^

Mini update on whats been done so far:

1/4 of zombie models
The Nurse model
Quite a bit of the NPC code :D

Heres a pic of the zombie models for your perusal.  Yes I know, obvious DS models are obvious, and proportions are way off etc.  The proportions are wierd because the models need to fit the skeleton rig, these guys will look better in game.

Looks cool though, although I don't understand the tactical theme to be honest. All the maps are shit look like something out of the 50s or 40s.

TBH the original had H&Ks, Tec9s and even the Terminator... but given the other 50s type stuff I have no idea what the time setting was meant to be. 

Regardless, tactical is the theme I'm going with.  People will easily be able to mod the finalized work I produce to make it 50sey if they want to :P

Code is now nearing completion for the project, I'm hoping to get this all released next week.

What Kyler said - either that or use the scientists that appeared in Paranoia (anyone know if those were legit?)

We're almost finished with the project now, we just need someone to help us fix up some new monster entities.  The way the monsters need to be made is roughly as follows:

Copy and paste zombie.cpp to make zombie2.cpp
Open up zombie.cpp and change all instances of zombie.mdl to zombie2.mdl, link to monster_zombie2
Predefine the monster (wherever this is done)

We don't need many NPCs added, only the following:
# einar_civ (clone of scientist)
# monster_nursezombie
# monster_zombie2
# monster_zombie3
# monster_lpzombie
# monster_th_zombiebull
# monster_th_babykelly (clone of the vort)
# monster_boss - (clone of the apache)

Please post in this thread if you can help us finish the mod, this is the last thing we need doing :)

Bit of a major bump, we're needing someone who can pick up the code since Jonny is too busy to continue working.

i am planning to create a live linux server with the linux engine they just created .
i restarted to work on the hlsp i made years ago ;']
now it include maps from azure_sheep mod , as well as opposing force sc

i inserted it in hl at the end of c2a3d with map asmap02d
then at end of asmap03d the story is back to c2a4

i did it to opforce after of3a2 with asmap07b asmap07c then asmap05 in the lab , last map is asmap07 where player can go to of2a4 [if he follows azure story..] or jump to c4a1 [using freeman teleporter ] or of3a2

to go back on your topic , your models looks cool , i found them too close to cs for the armed ones .
i think they hunger can handle two kind of monsters : some looking like human and others being made to use monsters ai
in my mind there are some good spot for a pitworm or two in maps after you pass the chopper on the ground [ may be for a geneworm if that appears soon ] so if you have any others files that can be used , i ll check them too
