Kalashnikov Kup scores
« on: March 07, 2010, 02:13:00 PM »
Congratulations to everybody who took part in the Kalashnikov Kup Counter-Strike Source tournament yesterday! It was fun to watch you all sweat, and even more fun to join in during the breaks to beat you all up. Less people turned up than we hoped, which we think we can resolve in the future by running more mod-based tournaments. This allows us to connect with their centralized communities, and helps us continue to support creative projects. Anyway, less of my talk, more of the scores:

As you can see, Danboe was the clear winner with some absolutely amazing frags by him. Second place was úcho and third place was Spork. Congrats to you guys, and better luck next time to the rest! We'll be contacting you three about your prizes, so stay tuned. (Oh, and I'm intrigued to know what úcho has planned for his server)

Keep on sweating! Profusely.

Thats not to say it cannot come after the next one. If there is community interest we can make it happen.

Did you contact INX-Gaming support? James should have told you to contact them.

No demos or videos? Most competitions I've seen had a commentator or two, as well.

This will have been our second competition, eventually we will get there. We had Source TV up and running for this last one.

Yeah, I saw the thread but I couldn't make it in time to the SourceTV broadcast.

You say eventually you'll get there? What do you have planned for the future? As a model, I think QL.tv covers competitive matches very well.

Source TV captures demo footage, so no need.

As for whats next? A 48 player competition in cooperation with a very well known mod team, details will be up sometime tomorrow!

Sadly this fell through when we discovered that the version of linux that INX runs was not compatible with the version of linux that was used to develop the dedicated server files.

Any chance the mod team could provide you with the source code for the dedicated server files? How difficult would it be to recompile from scratch?

VERY HARD
Nobody would ever bother to do that without a 1 grand payment waiting for him.
Eh, I find this difficult to believe.

Why do you think GraviNULL has no linux server files? Even though we have a very dedicated and experienced coder...

The mod that Thomas was referring to already has linux server files. The problem is that the INX-gaming servers run a different distribution of linux than the one that the server files were developed for. IMO, porting from distribution to distribution is an easy job, but I don't know what kind of issue they're having with different distributions.

Recompile the source code for the dedicated linux server on a different distribution.

You said to recompile it from scratch
That doesn't mean rewritting the code Bekey ...

...on a different distribution.

?
Different "version" of linux that have slight diffrences betwen them, the core is mostly the same, the gui is what change most of the time

Regardless, it doesn't seem like this is going to go ahead anyway. The mod was Goldeneye Source if you're interested.
