General project BBB and MRTF discution

This post became the general discution board of the project, didn't wanted to loose anything so yeah

I was thinking that the mod could use some SD models, and then I had this idea of making SD packs for all those old mods and try to bring them back to life, but not just plain simple usal SD models with M4 and SPAS 12, no I was thinking of making/hacking models that would fit the mod better, for example in Edge of Darkness you face a mad scientist who try to open portal to Xen to take control of the creatures and take over the world (of course), so model used for the scientist is the gman one and of course there is still the HECU marines as enemies, I won't blame the author of EoD, but woudn't it be better if the marines were replaced by mercs ?
So my idea is simple bringing old mod back to light by making SD pack that fits the mod and releasing them good as new (kinda like lack ops redux), maybe a litle bit of coding and EntRip to top the whole thing, I think we could make it a community project, and calling it Bring Back is a Bitch.
What you guys think ?

If I could model I would so be in on this, I will help with whatever mapping or terrain textures there could be.

I was thinking of perhaps starting a mini redux team for some less known mods, I'd love to see a really big remake of the old Cthulhu mod, I would be eager to map for such a thing.

I'd love to do some model hacks. Arm rigging, skeleton reposing, I've got tons of time, it'd be something to do besides the packs (which can get boring sometimes) ... some badass looking NPCs...

Well I wans't talking about a full remaking of some mods, more like completion of what was missing some coding perhaps, nothing more than 3 or 4 full days of work, but yeah the mini redux team sound great, I suggest we start with something simple like Edge of Darkness, Underground, Absolute redemption, Todesangst or USS DarkStar you know small mod that aren't directly happening inside black mesa or Xen
But yeah cthulhu could really use some new models

I really hope someone does a Wanted! pack sometime, there are plenty of newer mods which could be pillaged from for that... it would be a fair bit of work though.

For an Edge of Darkness pack, wouldn't it make more sense if the story were altered so that you're a Combine soldier attacking G-Man's rebel base or something?  I did start working on an HL2 styled citizen for HOE (lol) which I could donate to the pack.

now this is the kind of community project I could back. Consider my entire back catalog of animation free to hack pillage, tweak, rerig,whatever. I may throw a few new ones in the pot when they're needed. Also, IF I ever finish my new grunts, consider them good2go.

I can probably make all manners of sounds too, however I will proably have a hard time with weapon souns, if people want them realistic, I've only heard like four guns fired in real life, and I have no idea what they were.

But I mean, stuff like door sounds and terrain sounds and stuff.

I like this idea, should get us more recognition and attract extra users (who aren't twats, hopefully). Alas I can't contribute myself as I have far too much other work to do.

I think what would be better is that to pick up a list of mods, and then pick one to work with and when finished, pick new one from the list.
If I may, of course, type some intresting mods I remember playing:
Scientist Slaughterhouse (old, still fun, just not for long,sadly)
Darkstar(of course, one of the most amazing "short-but-sweet" small mods.Definitely in the list)
Life's End(Intresting obscure and insane modification with its own little scenes, like hallucinations!)

Well, I didnt play much but those three are considerably few that I remember with alot of very nice and intresting moments.

Did some hacks for Darkstar a few months back.

Mostly defaults with new hands, some GO stuff in there, with default models cos I'm lazy (except for Mill's M1014).

Also Timeline needs to happen... not WW2 weapons, but still German. I'm thinking 9mmar = AG36, 9mmhg = P99, 357 = USP etc.

It looks like the first project will be EoD? I think it's wise to take them one at a time if we can, as to make sure not to bite off more than we can chew, so to say. At least I will try to folow each project as it comes along.

Make a list of who can do what (code, models, textures, mapping, sounds, etc.) or is willing to contribute in any way.
